For the upcoming 50th (yes, fiftieth!) edition of the Salone del Mobile (Milan Furniture Fair), the Dream Factories exhibit enters its fourth year at the Triennale Design Museum with the theme of “People, Ideas and Paradoxes of Italian Design”.
Curated by Alberto Alessi, the managing director of the world-famous Alessi factory, this exhibition is devoted to the people, companies and projects which contributed to the development of the system of Italian design from the Second World War. These “Italian Design Factories” are the long-established small- to medium-sized companies that may not have the huge revenue generating aspects of larger companies, but have contributed their craftsmanship to Italian design.
The presentation of the design project was conceived by Catalan designer Martí Guixé as an Alice in Wonderland-like adventure, specifically a dialogue involving objects and designers and the histories of great entrepreneurs intertwined with their individual biographies in a joyful atmosphere rich in emotions and hints.
Check out the exhibit at the Triennale Design Museum from 5 April 2011 through 26 February 2012.
