At Spazio Rossana Orlandi this year there is no lack of great design. I just didn’t expect to see something quite as unique as this line of wooden headwear called TÊTE DE BOIS designed by Andrea Deppieri. At first glance I had thought it was a part of an installation, but when Andrea put on the wooden cap, that’s when I realized this was actually a real product.
Andrea invited me to put on the cap to try it out. First of all, it is lightweight. I then used the adjustable string in the back to fit the cap on me and voila! It was comfortable and different.
The line of headwear is available in 5 styles in 2 wood finishes, including the light-colored Tanganika wood from Côte d’Ivoire and the darker Mahogany wood. The slats are made from stratified pure virgin wood veneers, they are then calendared and layered to give strength and durability to the wood. The wood is also selected from specific regenerating eco forests.
