Two years after our initial visit, we are back at the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen – today known as the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel. We’ve learned new facts about this room:
We were also fortunate enough to visit the rooftop of the hotel – above the famous Alberto K restaurant – to get a spectacular view of Copenhagen. More importantly, according to our friends at Fritz Hansen, this was where Arne Jacobsen went when he needed time to think. It’s quite amazing to be able to follow in his footsteps, literally.
There is also a temporary Room 506 in the hotel, designed by Jaime Hayon, as a tribute to Arne Jacobsen. The reason this is temporary is because the hotel will be going through a renovation starting in [insert date], and the renovation is expected to last [insert period of time]. All of the rooms will be renovated, with exception to Room 606. The exterior of the hotel is expected to remain the same.
Inside the hotel, the lobby will get a facelift, with updated designs. The famous stairs held up by steel rods will remain, however. Here is our last look at the lobby before the change.
