Jawbone announced UP, a wristband that tracks your movement (steps, distance, calories burned, pace, intensity level and active vs inactive time ) and sleep (hours slept, time to fall asleep, light vs. deep sleep and sleep quality). You can view your daily and weekly progress via the UP App on your Apple device (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad). Simply sync the wristband with the device to begin and data will be collected automatically 24/7.
The design is made from a spring steel frame encased in durable, sweat-proof, water-resistant (up to 1m), hypoallergenic rubber.
There’s even a social component to this product. You can join “challenges” with others and track your progress, or simply start your own with friends. Also, if you really need the reminder, there is a vibration sensor that can be activated to remind you that you’ve been inactive for too long – such as sitting at your desk for a prolonged period of time – so that you can get up and stretch.
Definitely something interesting for those of us who work too much.
