Amnesty International invited Dutch designer Maarten Baas to design a piece to support their campaign against the increased suppression of writers, journalists, artists and activists. Mr Baas created 5-meter tall “The Empty Chair” in honor of Chinese Nobel Peace Prize winner Liu Xiaobo, who was not able to accept the prize in person. This piece will be formally presented at the 50th anniversary of Amnesty International event on May 28 at the Pakhuis De Zwijger in Amsterdam.
The design of “The Empty Chair” will soon be available in the form of an exclusive pin.
