Fritz Hansen revealed Ro, a 1 1/2 chair designed by Jaime Hayon that was built as a space where comfort and tranquility come together. It is not a very difficult concept to explain, as the original Fritz Hansen brief to Mr Hayon was “…to create a comfortable seat for one person”. So he did.
The design seems to be a modern interpretation of the traditional parlor chair, but with smooth curves around shell that is more welcoming, yet provides privacy.
“We put a great deal of effort into the form of the chair, which is inspired by the human body. We wanted a chair that was comfortable as well as beautiful. My goal was to create a slim and elegant chair that encourages reflection and comfort,” says Hayon.
The name “Ro” means tranquility in Danish. The simplicity of the name itself also speaks to the Nordic minimalist approach that is Fritz Hansen.
This chair will be available around September in 9 colors, with three traditional options (black, grey and taupe), three bright colors (violet, blue and yellow) and three soft colors (light pink, sage-green and sand). Two textures are also available, one for the seat shell and another for the cushions.
